May 12th is the Mother’s Day, SBM lead the company Art-Troupe and staff-volunteers held one wonderful party for old-men in Chuansha Gerocomium and offered the aged carefully-prepared presents.

SBM staffs are from different places, and for the distance, they could not go home and share the happy-time with their grandparents and parents in this festival. According to Ms. Zhu, who organized this activity, “due to the work, we are far from our hometown and we cannot stay with elders at home, but we can accompany the aged near us. It is why we are here, and give our love to them in the Mother’s Day.” It is said that this activity, naming station of Lighthouse of Alexandria, is also part of SBM 416 Culture Festival, symbolizing that SBM takes herself as the starting-point and diffuses light and heat, just like the lighthouse of Alexandria.

On the right day, SBM volunteers look around the gerocomium under the lead of dean. Chuansha NO.1 Gerocomium is located in Chuansha town, Pudong New Area. It is built by the gov. in 1996. Now there are about 120 old men and the eldest one is 101 years old. When the journalist asked why the Mother’s Day activity was held here, Ms. Zhu answered, “For one reason, here is close to our company, and for another, we hold the faith that philanthropy should start beside us. In the future, we will take many more community activities.”

In the party, the SBM Art-Troupe performed their unique-skills, taking the aged into good memory under the classic songs. Music like Singing and Smile, Bamboo House Love Song, Love Dedication and Wish You Safe and Sound are the most favorite songs of old men. We hope the music will bring the aged enjoyable time.

Meanwhile, SBM volunteers also held one special party for six old men, whose birthday is in May and sent all elders carefully-prepared gifts. The activity really moved the elders, and some of them held volunteers’ hands and expressed that they did hope volunteers could visit them in their free time. At last, party ended under the song “Mother”.

It is reported that many other companies and volunteers do their great efforts to help the gerocomium, such as in visiting the elders and greening the gerocomium. SBM will also cooperate with them, giving elders much more humanistic care, building and perfecting the base-installation.
