15 липня 2021 року були опубліковані Думки Центрального комітету КПК та Державної ради про розвиток нової зони Пудун, які підтримують високий рівень реформ і відкриття Пудуна та мають на меті перетворити його на провідну область соціалістичної модернізації. Це відкриває нові можливості для розвитку Пудуна.
