India has some of the largest reserves of coal in the world (approx. 267 billion tonnes ). The energy derived from coal in India is about twice that of energy derived from oil, whereas worldwide, energy derived from coal is about 30% less than energy derived from oil.

Coal mining in India has a long commercial history spanning almost 220 years from 1774. However, for about a century , the growth of the Indian coal mining remained sluggish , lack of demand , but the introduction of steam locomotives in 1853 gave a boost to it. In a short span , production rose to an annual average of 1 million tonnes (mt) and India could produce 6.12 mts. per year by 1900 and to 18 meters per year by 1920. The production received a surge of the First World War, but went through a crisis in the early thirties.
With the advent of independence, the country has embarked on development plans 5 years. At the beginning of the first level, the annual production has increased by 33 mts. During the plan period 1 itself, the need to increase coal production efficiently by systematic and scientific development of the coal industry is felt .

Crushing reduces overall coal topsize ROM so that it can be more easily handled and processed in the CPP. Grinding requirements are an important part of the design of CPP and there is a number of different types.

Screens are used to group process particles in size ranges . These size ranges are also called grades. Dewatering screens are used to remove water from the product . Coal mining is a comprehensive project involving various stages in mining machinery . In general, the whole chart of coal mining is to crush, transport, screening and grinding step . Firstly , large stones are crushed by coal crushers in size from 20 to 25 mm , then they are introduced into the feeding machine . Through the vibrating screen, these stones are crushed coal continuously into the grinding mill coal. Coal is crushed by grinding the coal plant . Coal particles recirculate around four times before reaching the required fineness of handling by the machine . Classifier allows fine particles to escape from the outlet of the mill , while the coarse particles are returned to the mill for further grinding . The primary air is supplied by the fan through air pre heater coal plant or in some boilers , hot air fan pressure received before heating the air and provide factories. Primary hot air causes the moisture of coal and acts as a carrier for conveying pulverized coal to the boiler by pipes.
