Chromium is one of the most widely used metals in modern industries. In metallurgical industries, chrome ore is mainly used to produce ferrochromium alloys and metallic chromium.
There are about 30 chromium-bearing minerals in nature, but only chrome ore has industrial value. Chrome ore is mainly composed of oxides of iron, magnesium, and chromium, with a theoretical chemical formula of (Fe, Mg)Cr2O4.
The dressability of chrome ore mainly depends on the grade, purity, disseminated particle size, and the composition and quantity of associated gangue minerals. Commonly used beneficiation methods include gravity separation, magnetic separation, electrostatic separation, and flotation. Among them, gravity separation is the most widely used.
