  Thonburi, Thailand is located on the west coast of Bangkok and is a core component of the city. It is densely populated and highly urbanized. The long-term problem caused by discharge of sewage into rivers has led to serious pollution in the tributaries of the Mekong River, affecting public health and the ecological environment. The Thonburi sewage collection and treatment system pipeline network project is one of the key water environment governance projects promoted by Thailand in recent years. The goal is to build a sewage collection pipeline network system and supporting treatment facilities covering the Thonburi area, and improve the sewage treatment capacity of Bangkok and surrounding areas The pipeline network in the key areas of the project was entirely constructed by our NPD600 pipe jacking machine, with a total construction length of 9.3km. The soft soil layer in Bangkok is deep, and the pipeline network needs to cope with the risk of ground settlement, using flexible interface pipes (such as HDPE pipes). At the same time, urban construction needs to avoid affecting existing roads and underground pipelines (electricity, gas), and adopt Micro-tunneling to reduce excavation.

  The design turning radius of the pipeline is required to be less than 40m. The starting well diameter is 10m, and the main geology is gravel cobble. Construction difficulties include ultra small turning radius, complex geological formations, and small starting wells. For this project, our partner has carried out many innovative designs, such as small diameter spherical hinges, ball hinge spiral screw conveyor, ultra small turning radius belt conveyors, and one click switching soil improvement devices. This shield tunneling machine has an excavation diameter of 3.05m and can achieve a super small turning radius of 35m, making it the smallest diameter earth pressure balance shield tunneling machine in China at present.

  The Project is located in Pudong New Area, Shanghai. It is a connecting pipeline with a total length of about 19 kilometers, set between two large sewage treatment plants. It is the first time in the world that a super large sewage treatment plant has been interconnected. In order to create high-quality projects, the project has introduced new processes and equipment, accurately controlled many technical parameters such as the crossing pipelines of small curvature radius shield tunneling, and structures' linearity, ground settlement, etc. It pays attention to key process control, strictly controls risks, and ensures construction safety and quality. The TPT4800 shield machine is used for the first section of the southern section 1.1 of this project, with a total length of 900m and a designed duct piece outer diameter of 4.6m. It mainly passes through clay and silty clay strata. The "dual-mode slag removal system" developed by our company has been successfully applied in this project, demonstrating excellent adaptability and achieving a construction performance of up to 35m excavation per day.

  Our product NPT3700 is used for the southern section of tunnels 3 # to 2 # in this project, with a total length of 952 meters. The first 496 meters was constructioned using the Pipe jacking method, while the last 456 meters was constructed using the shield tunneling method. It passes through two power tower bases, two sewage pipes, and the Nan Cao railway tunnel with a height difference of 3.41m. This project is the first power tunnel project in North China to adopt the "Pipe jacking-Shield tunneling" construction method, and also the longest single line pipe jacking distance project in North China.
