Spiral Classifier

Based on the number of screw shafts, the spiral classifier can be divided into two classes: single and double screw.

The spiral classifier can be divided into high weir, low weir and immersed-type spiral classifier based on the height of overflow weir.

Features

The high weir:

The high weir is suitable for coarse grain classification with some depressed area, is capable of obtaining granularity over 100 mesh.

01

The low weir:

The desliming area is small and overflow capability is low. Usually used on washing sand and desliming.

02

The immersed-type spiral classifier:

The immersed-type spiral classifier is suitable for the fine granule classification capable of obtaining overflow granularity less than 100 mesh for the great depressed area and depth.

FX Series Hydrocyclone

Hydro-cyclone is a kind of equipment for classifying the ore pulp by use of centrifugal force. It has no motion and dynamic parts, and needs to be matched with corresponding slurry pump. It is mainly used in ore dressing industry for classifying, dewatering and desliming.

Features

Simple structure, easy installation and operation.

01

Small size and floor area, easy to transport.

02

Larger capacity with lower cost.

03

Finer partition size and high classifying efficiency.

04

More powerful and efficient combined unit can be selected by connecting several units of cyclone in parallel or in series.

05

Alternative automation control system.

06

Polyurethane wear-resisting material to make the life-span longer.

FAQs

  • What are the two main types of classification equipment supplied by SBM?

SBM provide spiral classifiers and FX series hydrocyclones. They are widely matched with ball mills to form closed-circuit grinding systems, and also used independently for sand classification, desliming and dewatering in mineral processing.

  • What minerals can classification equipment process?

They adapt to all kinds of metal and non-metal ores including iron ore, lithium ore, gold ore, limestone, barite, quartz sand, coal gangue, for closed-circuit grinding, gravity separation desliming and tailings dewatering.

  • Can multiple hydrocyclones work together?

Yes. Multiple hydrocyclones can be connected in parallel to increase total throughput, or connected in series to realize multi-stage fine classification, supporting modular cluster layout.

  • Does hydrocyclone need a special pump?

Yes. It must be equipped with wear-resistant slurry pump to provide stable feeding pressure (0.05–0.25 MPa). Fluctuating pressure will directly reduce classification accuracy.

  • Why does hydrocyclone overflow carry excessive coarse particles (overflow roping)?

Common causes:1,Apex (sand discharge nozzle) severely worn, diameter becomes too large; 2,Feeding pressure is too low; 3,Feed slurry concentration is excessively high; 4,Vortex finder inner liner worn out. Solutions: Replace worn apex, increase pump frequency to raise pressure, dilute ore slurry with water, change vortex finder liner.
