In China, high manganese steel has been gradually replaced by alloy steel plates. With the continuous application of alloy copper liners in ball mills, this material has become the mainstream for manufacturing ball mill liners. As we know, the liner of a ball mill serves to protect the mill body, but some customers feedback that the service life of the liner is very short and the investment cost is too high.

All wear-resistant materials suffer from wear and corrosion, including balls and liners. Due to the impact of ball mill grinding media, such as grinding, sliding, rolling, rebound move and the corrosion by the materials, so the liner of ball mill will have to wear.

As the seriously worn out liner, it should to replace it in time, and there is no need to be repaired. Only when spare parts are in short supply can liners with minor wear be repaired by welding for emergency use.

  • 1. Remove the liner and clean its surface until it meets the metal surface.
  • 2. To fix the liner firmly, insert graphite plugs into the liner bolt holes to ensure the holes do not become smaller.
  • 3. Put the liner on the welding platform stage, place it as horizontally as possible, and at the same time make the liner surface face upward.
  • 4. Welding electrodes.
  • 5. Finally, remove the welding slag, impurities, and burrs around the liner. Manual arc surfacing can be used; it is preferable that welding be performed by highly skilled and experienced workers.
  • 6. The surfacing process is as follows: first deposit a carbon steel layer, then a transition layer, and finally an alloy surfacing layer. This multi-layer welding method can be used to repair alloy steel ball mill liners.
