1. Can Raymond Mill Be Used As A Vertical Mill?
For this question, the answer is obvious. Raymond mill is not a vertical mill, so it can't be used as a vertical mill. The two are not exactly the same in terms of working principle, floor space, internal structure and processing capacity.
① Different in working principles
Vertical mill: The material falls on the grinding disc and moves evenly to the edge under the action of centrifugal force. When passing through the roller grinding zone of the vertical mill, the material is crushed by the grinding roller. Large-sized materials are directly crushed, while fine materials are further ground. When passing through the separator, under the action of the rotor blades, the coarse particles return to the grinding disc for grinding again, and the qualified fine powder is discharged along with the airflow.
Raymond mill: The larger size material will be crushed by the crusher first to the required size, and then be sent to the grinding chamber of the Raymond mill for grinding. The ground material will be sent to the classifier by the airflow of the fan for classification. Materials that do not meet the fineness requirement fall into the grinding chamber of the Raymond mill for re-grinding; otherwise, qualified materials enter the cyclone unit with the airflow through the pipeline for separate collection.
②Different in size
In order to be in line with current construction standards and save costs for investors, both grinding mills have been intensively designed, with a smaller footprint and a more compact structure. Among them, the Raymond mill adopts integral transmission (via bevel gear), which features a compact structure and more reasonable layout; while the vertical mill occupies only about 50% of the area of a ball mill and can be installed in the open air, greatly reducing investment costs.
③ Different in structure
The vertical grinding mill integrates functions of crushing, drying, grinding, powder selection, and conveying, whose system is simple and reasonable, greatly reducing the total equipment investment. In addition, the vertical mill is integrally sealed and works under negative pressure, so it's clean and there are no dust spills.Its emission standards far exceed international standards.
The Raymond mill adopts a low resistance arc-shaped air duct with tangential air flow. Compared with the traditional straight-plate air duct, its inlet has low smooth resistance and the internal outlet direction is conducive to material dispersion, not easy to block, which can effectively reduce the system energy consumption, reducing the operating cost of the mill.
④ Different in processing capacity
Although both mills can process materials such as limestone, calcite, dolomite, petroleum coke, gypsum, barite, marble, talc, coal powder, etc., their processing advantages in feed size and capacity are different.
