With the rise of the grinding processing industry, more and more investors are entering this field. However, there are many types of grinding machines with different functions. For this, investors who new enter the industry may inevitably be a little confused about them. They may ask some questions such as "Is the Raymond mill equivalent to a vertical mill?" There are so many grinding mill in the market.
1. Can Raymond Mill Be Used As A Vertical Mill?
For this question, the answer is obvious. Raymond mill is not a vertical mill, so it can't be used as a vertical mill. The two are not exactly the same in terms of working principle, floor space, internal structure and processing capacity.
① Different in working principles
Vertical mill: The material falls on the grinding disc and moves evenly to the edge under the action of centrifugal force. When passing through the roller grinding area of the vertical mill, the material will be crushed by grinding roller, and the large size material is directly crushed and the fine material is also crushed after crushing. When passing through the separator, under the action of the rotor blades, the coarse particles return to the grinding disc for grinding again, and the qualified fine powder will be expelled along with the airflow.
Raymond mill: The larger size material will be crushed by crusher first to the required size, and then be sent to the grinding chamber of the Raymond mill for grinding. The ground material will be sent to the classifier by the airflow of the fan for classification. Materials don't meet the fineness requirements falls into the grinding chamber of Raymond mill for re-grinding, otherwise, enter the cyclone set with the airflow through the pipe for separate collection.
②Different in size
In order to be line with current construction standards and save costs for investors, both two grinding mills have been intensively designed, with a smaller footprint and a more compact structure. Among them, Raymond mill adopts integral transmission (by bevel gear), which makes a limited area and a more reasonable layout; while the vertical mill occupies about 50% of ball mill, and can be arranged in the open air, which greatly reduces investment costs.
③ Different in structure
The vertical grinding mill integrates functions of crushing, drying, grinding, powder selection, and conveying, whose system is simple and reasonable, greatly reducing the total equipment investment. In addition, the vertical mill is integrally sealed and work under negative pressure, so it's clean and no dust spills. Its emission standards far exceed international standards.
The Raymond mill adopts a low-resistance arc-shaped air duct with tangential air flow. Compared with the traditional straight-plate air duct, its inlet has low smooth resistance and the internal outlet direction is conducive to material dispersion, not easy to block, which can effectively reduce the system energy consumption, reducing the operating cost of the mill.
④ Different in processing capacity
Although both two mills can process materials such as limestone, calcite, dolomite, petroleum coke, gypsum, barite, marble, talc, coal powder, etc., the processing strengths such as feed size and capacity are different. The input size of vertical grinding mill is between 0-70mm, the capacity is about 3-340 tons an hour, while the input size of Raymond mill is about 0-50mm, and the capacity is about 3-50 tons an hour (The specific processing strength needs to be judged according to the actual processing situation).
2. How to distinguish vertical mill and Raymond mill?
How to choose a suitable grinding mill can be considered from various aspects such as equipment quality, raw material processing capacity, and finished product quality. As a well-known grinding equipment manufacturer in China, SBM has more than 30 years of practical experience and nearly 8,000 grinding project around the world. We are worthy of your trust.
